Laser Sensors
DRS Lasers
A DRS™ (Digital Range Sensor) Laser Probe on SprintMVP’s and select SmartScope systems provides non-contact, high resolution surface contouring to supplement video measurements.
As one of the sensors supported by OGP multisensor measurement systems, the metrology software integrates DRS laser data points as easily as those gathered by video measurement. Both linear and area scans are easily programmed into automatic measurement routines for accurate measurement of surface contours.
Two DRS laser probes are available, each with its own spot size. Both models have the same 17 mm working distance and are mounted in mechanical deployment mechanisms so they can be retracted when not in use.
There is a special version of the DRS-500 (DRS 500B) that uses a blue laser rather than a red laser. This version can work better on transparent or white parts.
Rainbow Probe
Rainbow Probe™ is an electro-optical device that measures surfaces without contact by analyzing changes in the optical spectrum as a function of part-to-probe spacing as it scans. Rainbow Probes easily measures transparent, translucent, fragile, liquid or easily deformable surfaces and are a mounted in mechanical deployment mechanisms so they can be retracted when not in use. The Rainbow Probe offers:
Measures where other sensors cannot – Rainbow Probe easily measures transparent, translucent, fragile, liquid or easily deformable surfaces
Dual measuring modes – Select distance or thickness measuring mode
The right probe for your application – A range of CL-series and RP-series probes are available, each with a unique measuring range, working distance, axial resolution, accuracy, and spot size
Multisensor integration – Integrates into automatic measurements with other sensors on OGP measurement systems
Telestar Plus Through-The-Lens (TTL) Laser
The TeleStar® Plus TTL laser has a unique interferometric sensing technology that yields a high measurement resolution, accuracy and capability in Fusion, SmartScope SP, and SmartScope Quest / Vantage systems. Additionally, the Telestar Plus TTL laser offers:
High resolution scanning –Interferometric sensing technology yields high measurement resolution, accuracy and capability
Measure deep surfaces –Very long working distance allows measurement of surfaces not accessible to other sensors; optional 0.45x lens yields a 200 mm working distance
TTL convenience –TeleStar Plus TTL laser is coaxial with system optics, allowing use over the full range of XY travel
Measure all surface textures – Ideal for measuring a wide range of part surfaces, from diffuse light scattering surfaces to translucent surface
Telestar Probe
TeleStar® Probe is a self-contained off-axis partial coherence interferometric range sensor for surface contour measurement. TeleStar Probe offers sub-micron resolution, providing excellent performance on both specular and light-scattering diffuse surfaces. The probe is fast and accurate, quickly scanning up to 500 data points per second with 1.0 micron accuracy and 0.1 micron repeatability.
On SmartScope ZIP’s, the probe can either be mounted fixed or in a mechanical deployment mechanism so that it can be retracted out of the way when not in use.
Additionally, the TeleStar Probe can be configured in the VersaFlex™ articulating multisensor array on FlexPoint systems allowing for advanced interferometric technology on a CMM unlike anything else in the industry.
The P-25 TeleStar Probe offers interchangeable objective lenses for different applications and up to 70 mm constant working distance.
Through-The-Lens (TTL) Laser
Through-the-Lens Lasers offer a non-contact method for measuring surfaces, using point focus for single-point measurements or scanning for multi-point measurements. TTL lasers offer:
TTL convenience – The TTL laser is coaxial with system optics, allowing use for measurement or as a laser pointer
Use with other sensors – Switch instantaneously between video and laser measurements
Long working distance – Scan surfaces without risk of striking a part or fixture
Auto tracking – The laser dynamically adjusts the Z-axis to track part contours automatically
Laser lens included – A 2.0x laser lens that enhances laser and video performance is included
